Resident attacked by gang armed with knives

Police: The victim was enjoying himself with friends when the suspects approached them.

A gang of three armed with knives attacked and robbed a man in his house recently, Bekkersdal Police said.

According to Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, “The incident occurred at around midnight on New Year’s Day (1 January 2016) in Simunye near Westonaria.

It is alleged the victim was enjoying himself with friends when they were accosted by three men armed with knives. They started searching the house and inside the drawer they found money and also took their liquor.

“The victim could, however, recognize one of the three suspects. He then reported the matter to police who acted swiftly which led to the eventual arrest of all three suspects.”

The suspects already appeared before Westonaria Regional Court on Monday and face a charge of house robbery.
