Police also fight poverty
Police want residents to join their ranks and not just with a badge and gun.
The West Rand Police Cluster is not only on a drive to fight crime but to combat poverty as well.
The cluster’s communicators together with Nthirisano Projects held career days in Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus on Wednesday (8 June).
Police reached 350 residents in Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus. They had a chance to promote careers in policing as well as other opportunities within the police that do not involve being an officer.
“Other posts such as administration functions are advertised frequently,” Constable Lucky Matome, spokesperson for Tarlton Police said.
The police were not the only ones who got a chance to canvas their organisation as other organisations had a chance to promote themselves. TSHEPO 500000 signed residents up for job opportunities and others organisations offered internships to attendees.
Of course no police project is complete without creating awareness about crime. Police addressed the residents and explained to them how to take charge of their future and to refrain from any form of criminal activity.
