Mohlakeng gym hosts Rand West Classic sports and beauty spectacle
Local athletes, powerlifters and models gather to highlight talent and encourage fitness development in township communities.
The Rand West Classic brought powerlifting, bodybuilding and beauty pageantry together at Mohlakeng Community Gym on September 5.
The multi-disciplinary event aimed to create a platform where sport, fitness, confidence, discipline and personal development could be celebrated.
Co-organiser Mpumelelo Seilane said the event was intended to allow participants to showcase their abilities while exposing the community to sporting and cultural disciplines that often receive limited attention.
Local empowerment drive
Seilane said the Rand West Classic was particularly focused on creating opportunities for athletes in township communities who face barriers to entering and developing in their respective disciplines.
The organisers hope the event will grow into a sustainable platform for talent identification, athlete development, empowerment and greater participation in powerlifting, bodybuilding and fitness.
