Hope for addicts with no way out
Your R35 goes a long way to take addicts off the street.
Rehabilitation centres help wean addicts off drugs, but sometimes rehabs are inaccessible to those who need it the most.
People Against Drug Abuse (Pada) partnered with Beg2Differ, Breaking The Chains (BTC) Support Group and Westview Clinic Toekomsrus to seek help for addicts. They started the R35 Drug Rehab Campaign, which is aimed at raising funds to enable addicts to go to rehab.
So far they have raised R4 000 through the R35 campaign and other generous donations. Pada currently assists five patients who are in rehab centres and they plan to sponsor many more rehab treatments for the Toekomsrus youth.
They not only assist addicts but their families as well. They focus on the important role of an addict’s family in post-rehab recovery.
They now aim to run holiday programmes, spiritual boot camps, life skills as well as other workshops to equip parents to help their children or family members after their return from rehab.
Pada also thanks all those involved in making the project a success thus far.
