VIDEO: Chaos at new municipality

Minor violence erupted but was controlled by law enforcement personnel.

A large group of at least 200 people are currently at the municipal buildings in an attempt to disrupt the first official council meeting of the new Rand West City Local Municipality.

It is said that the group consists mostly of EFF supporters.

Minor incidents of violence erupted but were controlled by local law enforcement personnel. The Randfontein Traffic Police as well as police are on scene.

According to Roxy de Villiers, Herald journalist on scene, some EFF members are in council, but many were not allowed in.
