Mother of four dies from disease
'She fought until the end and never gave up' – father after losing his wife to a disease called Lupus.
Melanie Reed, 50, loving wife and mother of four recently passed away. She had been suffering from lupus for the past 25 years.
According to her husband, Paul Reed, they were in the process of moving into a new apartment when he received the call from the hospital that she had passed away.
“While we were moving into our new home Melanie was in hospital. She never even had the chance to enjoy our new place,” a sad Paul told the Herald.
Although his late wife already had the disease when they met about 15 years ago, she was still willing to carry two of their children for him to experience fatherhood. He said Melanie never complained about her aches and pains, and she was always someone to look up to.
“She has always been an inspiration to me and everyone around her. She always stood by me and supported our family,” Paul said.
Melanie fought until the end and never gave up. She was the best mother to all four our children.”
He would like to thank their children, Chanté and Paul Reed as well as Maritza Redguard and Colin Munik for their roles in Melanie’s life.
“She was a very spiritual person. Her love and patience meant everything to me. I will never forget her beautiful smile – that was the first thing I noticed about her when we first met,” he said.
“She was the wonderful mom of my life,” her daughter Chanté Reed concluded.
In an article in May 2002 by web.md.com, deaths from lupus were on the rise. The article states, “More people than ever are dying from lupus, and some are at particularly high risk. CDC researchers analysing data from 1979-1998 found a steady rise in the number of young people — especially women and blacks — who died from the disease.”
According to mayoclinic.org Lupus can cause serious kidney damage and kidney failure is one of the leading causes of death among people with lupus.
