The Greenhills Circle is rapidly being upgraded and most recently a problem storm water drain was repaired.
The drain has been a problem for patrons of shops in the Circle, especially at Da Vinci’s.
The more than a metre deep drain was not covered, posing a risk for motorists using the parking lot outside the restaurant.

Ellik de Lange, DA Ward 6 councillor said an attempt was made to fix the drain with cement slabs, but it broke when vehicles drove over it, causing the rubble to fall into the drain.
Later, a metal rod was placed in the drain to warn motorists of the danger, but it was not much of a success.
De Lange reported the matter and the drain was cleaned and fixed recently, correcting the previous eyesore and making the section of the Circle’s parking lot safer for motorists.
This is one of the seasoned councillor’s first acts in his position after moving on from his former position as Proportional Representation (PR) councillor in Randfontein.

De Lange has big shoes to fill after former ward councillor Evert du Plessis moved on to becoming the DA Gauteng West Rand Regional Chairperson. Du Plessis forged a relationship with business owners in the Circle after the initial move by Manuel Pereira, the Inland Managing Director of the Bluebottle Liquors Group to fix up the circle in preparation of the new mall. It is up to De Lange to build on that relationship.
