Meet R’fontein’s publicity officer
'I love my job because of the variety; no two days are ever the same'
The community knows about her and sees her at almost every event, but who is she?
She is none other than Joy Hamann, the publicity officer from the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA), simply doing her work. As Randfontein’s publicity officer, Joy always shows up to support local businesses and organisations.
She has been involved in the association for roughly seven years, at first in a part-time capacity, and later as a full-time employee.
“I love my job because of the variety; no two days are ever the same. People from all walks of life come through our office doors, and I get to meet all of them,” Joy said.
One of her aims as publicity officer is to raise awareness of all the positive things that are happening in town. She said it’s one of the best feelings to help others and experience how others give back to the community as well.
“Let’s focus on the positive and what’s good about the town. What makes the town is the people, in Randfontein you feel like you’re part of a community,” she said.
As the annual Randfontein Show and the RPA compliment each other, Joy mentioned the long hours that it often requires.
“If you don’t have the passion for what you do, you will never be prepared for the long hours and extra hard work it requires,” Joy concluded.
