A Mohlakeng school became the 37th school to receive a container library from AVBOB.
The container was officially handed over to Sedimosang Primary School on Wednesday, 18 January.

The container is worth R350 000 and comes stocked with approximately 2 500 books from the AVBOB Foundation. The project is part of the company’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and is the foundation’s flagship project.
It was launched in 2013 and since inception, 37 containers have been donated to schools in impoverished communities throughout South Africa. So far they have spent over R12 million on the project.

The official ceremony was held on the school’s grounds and was attended by officials from the Department of Basic Education, the Gauteng Department of Education as well as the West Rand District Municipality.
In addition, Frik Rademan, AVBOB Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) attended the event and gave a few inspirational words to the school’s learners and gave one last gift to the school — an AVBOB podium.

“There is no doubt in my mind that great leaders will be emerging from this school and community in future. To develop such young talent, however, requires vast resources and this library will be utilised by the learners of Sedimosang Primary School. It will inspire them to develop a culture of reading and to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in carving their bright futures,” Rademan said.
The school’s principal, Daniel Sekomela expressed his gratitude for the generous gifts from AVBOB and said, “This library is a start of better things to come and it will assist the school in building a society of readers.”
