A 78-year-old woman was choked and robbed during a home invasion in Greenhills last week.
Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the incident took place on Convent Road at about 10.50pm on New Year’s Eve.
“The victim alleged that when she arrived home she noticed the remote-controlled garage door had been tampered with. The victim wanted to see what the problem was but was attacked by an unknown man who grabbed and choked her. The attacker threw her on the floor, took her handbag and emptied the contents on the floor,” Hendricks said.
The elderly woman was robbed of cash, two cellphones and her garage keys before her assailant fled the scene.
The victim was later found by her daughter and taken to hospital where she was treated for her injuries.”
Randfontein Police are requesting the community to go to a safe place as soon as they notice anything suspicious around their homes, and to contact the police immediately.
“The detectives are urging the community to come forward with any information that might lead to the arrest of the perpetrator by contacting them on 011 278 8100,” Hendricks added.
