A man was held at gunpoint by two men at a business shortly after he had bought stock.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson confirmed the incident took place in Bekkersdal last Thursday, 3 January.
“The victim said he was purchasing stock at Thabang Cash and Carry. He was about to stop next to his own place of business when he noticed one a man walking towards his vehicle. The man grabbed his vehicle keys from the ignition through the window. When the victim opened the door to confront his assailant, he was suddenly accosted by another man who was pointing a firearm at him.
“The one who took the keys opened the vehicle and took cigarettes and airtime vouchers before fleeing in a getaway vehicle parked nearby. The matter was reported to us and a case of armed robbery is under way.”
Lefakane added a manhunt for the suspects has since been launched.
“The suspect with the firearm is about 1,6m tall, is dark in complexion and was wearing a black cap and a black leather jacket. The second suspect is also about 1,6m tall, dark in complexion and was wearing a red cap, yellow and white jacket and black jeans.
“Anyone who might have information with regard to the suspects’ whereabouts may contact the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 8040 or alternatively contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111. The community is urged not to try to apprehend the suspects as they are deemed to be armed.
