The Randfontein Police is concerned about the recent rise in house robberies, particularly in Greenhills and Randgate.
According to Constable Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, “The police would like to sensitise the public to be aware, and advise the community to make sure their doors and windows are properly closed and locked before going to sleep.”

Hendricks added residents should ensure that nothing gets underneath their doors or through window frames.
“Have the necessary security and keep the panic button close by, so that you will be able to call for help when needed,” she added.
She also said that often elderly people are the target of such incidents, and would therefore advise and request their families to not leave them alone.
The police have also urged the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. They can call the station on 011 767 2300, or use the Crime Stop number (08600 10111) or SMS the Crime Line on 32211 to report crime anonymously.
