A total of 17 sheep have been recovered by the Randfontein Police in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Dwarskloof during the early hours of Wednesday morning (18 September).
According to Captain Raymond Sebonyane, West Rand District Police spokesperson, “Police together with the CPF Sector 5 searched for the sheep and eventually managed to recover all of them on the side of the road. They were tied up and covered with grass.
“The suspects could not be found, but the sheep were ready to be loaded,” Captain Sebonyane said.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police spokesperson applauded police members for their quick response and the CPF for joining forces with them to fight crime, especially livestock theft that is of huge concern.
Following the latest crime statistics for 2018/ 2019, stock theft saw an alarming increase of 44,8 per cent and a total of 42 cases, the highest increase this past decade. This was also the case in 2015/ 2016.
