Weapons and drugs found at a Randfontein school following random search operation by local police and the Gauteng Department of Community Safety.

Police discovered weapons and drugs at TM Letlhake Secondary School following a random search in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Community Safety on Wednesday, 9 October.

According to Colonel Tinus Swart, Bekkersdal Police station commander, it is believed the items were abandoned as soon as the carriers noticed the police’s presence at the school.

“At this stage, we have not made any arrests because the learners dropped everything that could have implicated them,” Swart said.

The knife was discovered with the drugs at the schools premises.

However, he added, the police also confiscated hats that were not allowed at the school, as well as electronic devices that were given back to the school,” Swart added.
