Nine suspects aged between 13 and 40 were arrested at an illegal shebeen in Ten Acres after school kids were found on the premises and adults were caught peddling drugs on Thursday, 10 October.
According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the arrests came following complaints from parents who said their kids had missed school and were found to have sat at a shebeen all day.

Hendricks said further investigations revealed a quantity of gold-bearing material as well.
“With the swift response of the police and CPF members nine suspects were arrested. All suspects are expected to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon,” Hendricks said.
Colonel Rand Thai Makgatho, acting Randfontein Police station commander, thanked the members as well as the CPF members for the good work , and urged parents to always know the whereabouts of their children and to make sure they attend school.
