Radiography might not be everyone’s cup of tea but is it a profession that 18-year-old Tshegofatso Ramano of Finsbury really wishes to pursue.
According to the University of Johannesburg’s website, a radiographer is a healthcare professional specialising in imaging techniques to aid in the diagnosis of various diseases.
Tshegofatso is one of the many of Randfontein High School learners to have passed matric.
Not only did she pass, she also met all the requirements to study radiography. She is very excited to start studying towards her dream career.
Describing how she discovered the profession, Tshegofatso said the day she broke her leg was a blessing in disguise, because that was when she fell in love with radiography.
She said after learning about what it entails, she knew that was what she wanted to do.
“It is the kind of profession that you get to physically interact with people,” she said.
“When I was in Grade 10 I broke my leg and the radiographer who tended to me in hospital was quite an inspiration. They way she treated me made me feel very fortunate and it helped me to heal.
“I cannot wait to explore the technological aspect of it,” she concluded.
