11-year-old Liam remembered after passing from cancer
The Laerskool Randfontein family came together to honour the life of 11-year-old Liam Rotkin, who sadly passed away last month after a brave battle with cancer.
Grade Five learners and the family of Liam Rotkin gathered at Laerskool Randfontein on August 28 for a special memorial to celebrate his life and honour his place in the school community.
Liam died earlier in August after a battle with cancer.

As part of the memorial, two trees were planted in Liam’s memory, creating a lasting reminder of the 11-year-old learner who touched the lives of so many around him.

“As the trees grow, so too will the memories of the young boy who touched the lives of his family, friends and teachers. The special spot will also give Liam’s friends a place to sit, share memories and remember him whenever they miss him,” a message on the school’s social media page read.
