Toekies: Parents in community together against drugs

Parents in the community are tired of drug peddlers and smugglers in their community.

Parents in Toekomsrus are fed up with drugs in their community.

Their anger was felt after the Empowering Single Parents organisation petitioned against drug vendors on Tuesday, February 22. They also joined in prayer, asking that dealers and smugglers must stop killing their children and destroying their future.

One of the organisers, Trudy van Niekerk, said the demonstration came after a community member had spoken up recently.

We as parents are tired of drug vendors and drug smuggling. We demand that their businesses close down and that stronger action is taken against them. They are ruining the community and our children of Toekomsrus. You dealers eat and drink at the expense of honest people. Our property and belongings are stolen to satisfy cravings while your pockets are full!” said Trudy.

Parents of the community of Toekomsrus vowed to continue fighting and praying against drugs.

“Enough is enough!” she added.
