When the Herald reported on cancer warrior Heather Kriek recently, little did we know that her battle would end two weeks later.

Sadly she died at the age of 56 on Saturday March 12 in her daughter’s home in Stilfontein, North West.

Heather had been battling two types of cancer for many years – breast and brain cancer. A CANSA Shavaton was held at the Buffalo Ranch at the Buffalo Ranch on Saturday February 26 to honour her and other cancer warriors in the Rand West City.

Last week, the Herald reported how Heather had been living with the deadly disease. At the time of the interview she was in a wheelchair and had difficulty speaking.
