Klein Elandsvlei memorial planned for 8-year-old Aidan Westraad

Mourners will release blue helium balloons on Saturday to celebrate the life of a young boy who died following a short illness.

Family, friends and community members are invited to come together to honour the memory of eight-year-old Aidan Westraad, who passed away on Sunday, November 1, after a short illness.

A special memorial gathering takes place on today, November 7, at Plot 38, Park Street, in Klein Elandsvlei, where those who knew and loved Aidan can celebrate his life and say goodbye.

The gathering is scheduled to begin at 17:30, with family friend Frank Ferreira encouraging the community to join them in paying a heartfelt tribute to the young boy.

Tribute balloon release

As part of the tribute, attendees are asked to bring their own blue helium balloons, which will be released into the sky in Aidan’s memory.

The gathering aims to provide an opportunity for loved ones and community members to stand together, remember Aidan and share a moment of love and remembrance.

Though gone too soon, Aidan will never be forgotten, and residents seeking further information can contact Ferreira on 083 661 3208.
