Rand West City Library encourages residents to read

National Library Week was celebrated last month by introducing the culture of reading in Simunye.

Management of Rand West City Library celebrated National Library Week last month by introducing the culture of reading in Simunye.

According to Programmes Librarian Thandeka Legae, spokesperson of the Rand West City Libraries, they also sought to market many of their libraries that weren’t being used to their full capacity.

The awareness programme was designed to highlight the role of public libraries and raise awareness about all the library services rendered by Rand West City,” Legae said.

During the event, they launched new books by three West Rand authors.

“We were proud to launch the newly published book of Jacob Tlokana (Life of a Born Free in South Africa); Athi December (Gracefully Broken); and Sibonelo Chiliza (Journey to the Unknown),” Legae said.
