Management of Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital marked Health Awareness Month at the San Pedro Spur on Saturday April 23.

According to Lenmed spokesperson, Ofentse Pharumele, the hospital staff conducted health screenings and held health talks, and demonstrated CPR techniques. The ultimate goal of course was to get the public to come out so that the hospital could encourage all to lead healthier lifestyles.

We did that by doing blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, and administer flue vaccinations – all for free to the public,” Ofentse said.

They also gave health education to those who joined on the day about why they should remain healthy, and what they could do to improve their overall health.

Ofentse added that it was important for people to get checked or screened because if they could detect any underlying health issues early, they’d be be able to receive treatment.

Undetected illnesses could have fatal consequences, therefore it is important for everyone to know how healthy they are, or what risks they could be prone to, but that can only be done if they get these screening,” Ofentse said.

“Lennie The Lion is our hospital mascot and we take him everywhere. The kids love him and he also helps to spread our healthy-lifestyle message wherever we go. During the event we handed out free licence discs; Lennie The Lion’s Safety Activity Books which teach the little ones about general safety; and other booklets about health,” Ofentse said.
