A man in his 40s died after he was hit by a vehicle on the R501 in Carletonville on Saturday night, May 7.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said when medics arrived on scene before 20:00, the victim was lying in the middle of the road while the vehicle that had struck him was parked a distance away.

Medics assessed the man and found that he had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead,” Meiring said.

The driver of the vehicle was found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated at the scene and transported to Carletonville Hospital for further care.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” Meiring added.
