Jaws of Life used to free man from crash on R41

Paramedics found the driver of the vehicle entrapped and in a serious condition.

A collision between a vehicle and a truck on the R41 in Randfontein on Tuesday, May 24 left a man seriously injured.

According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, when paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 07:30, they found the driver of the vehicle entrapped and in a serious condition.

She added that ER24 paramedics, as well as the City of Johannesburg EMS, managed to free the man from the vehicle using the jaws of life.

The man was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care. The driver of the truck sustained no injuries. Exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics,” said van Huyssteen.
