It is believed that Marius might be on the West Rand since one of his shopping loyalty cards was used at Tambotie Mall on May 26 and June 1. The last time he communicated with his wife was via text at about 15:00 on the day he went missing. His phone went dead at about 22.00 on the same day. At the time of his disappearance, Marius was working as a security officer at Menlyn in Pretoria.

A case was opened at Brooklyn Police Station.
