QRF operational manager Rohann Treptow confirmed they received intelligence of a vehicle that was linked to a number of livestock thefts in Carletonville, Randfontein, Brandvlei and Tarlton.

“The tactical units then positioned themselves along known routes used by the thieves and at about 04:25, the vehicle was spotted near the Brandvlei intersection. Once they realised they had been spotted, they sped off and the BCI QRF vehicle gave chase. Eventually, the team intercepted the vehicle at an informal settlement along the N14,” said Treptow.

The vehicle along with 13 stolen sheep were recovered before the scene was secured and handed over to the Tarlton police,” he concluded.
