15 arrested after three bodies found in Mohlakeng

Police have identified the three victims who were shot and killed in Mohlakeng.

Police arrested 15 people after three bodies were discovered in an open veld in Mohlakeng during the early morning hours of March 14.

Investigations revealed that the victims had sustained gunshot wounds.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, the deceased have since been identified as Lesupi Mokatsanyane (28), Jeremiah Kgitla (25) and Tsepa Manare (31) and from Lesotho.

“On March 14, Constable Mnisi received a complaint of shooting in an open veld near the Bundu Inn informal settlement. As Mnisi proceeded to the scene, he noticed a man with a gunshot wound in the leg.

“A second person was traced to Leratong Hospital’s ICU with a gunshot wound to the chest. On the scene, police discovered three bodies with multiple gunshot wounds,” Sibiya said.

According to Sibiya, 14 of the 15 suspects were charged with Contravention of the Immigration Act.

Investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the shootings.
