Second suspect arrested after Randgate car wash robbery

Two suspects have now been arrested following a robbery at a Randgate car wash.

A second suspect linked to a robbery at a Randgate car wash last month has been arrested

According to Ruan Sheppard, CPF chairperson, the robbery occurred on June 17 when two perpetrators entered a car wash in Langerman Street as employees were closing up.

“One of the perpetrators grabbed a bag containing cash and other items and handed it to his accomplice,” Sheppard explained. “The employees managed to detain the first suspect, but the second fled toward Riebeeck Lake, emptied the bag and escaped with the money.”

The CPF, Mapogo A Mathamaga and Sub Rosa Integrated Security Solutions then rushed to the scene. Sheppard and Sub Rosa escorted the detained suspect to the police, where he was arrested.

During the weekend of July 5, Sheppard received confirmation that the second suspect could be arrested. On July 8, he was tracked down and taken into custody without resistance.

“Without resistance, the accomplice was found, detained and taken to the police, where he was also arrested,” Sheppard confirmed.
