Retail store in Randgate hit by armed robbers

At least six suspects – some armed – made a quick getaway with cash after targeting a retail store on Union Street in broad daylight on Tuesday.

A retail store on Union Street, Randgate, was targeted by armed robbers on Tuesday afternoon, 5 August.

According to an *eyewitness, a vehicle pulled up in front of the store. The driver stepped out briefly and, upon returning, started the engine. Another man waited on the pavement. Moments later, four men ran out of the store and jumped into the vehicle.

Some of the suspects were believed to be armed and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.

Police on the scene declined to comment. Gauteng Police provincial spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo was also approached, but no information had been received at the time of publication.
