Security group shares insight into two recent house robberies

Two recent house robberies in Middelvlei and Kocksoord share striking similarities, with three armed robbers in each case taking personal belongings before escaping on foot.

Mapogo A Mathamaga has released information about two house robberies that occurred over the weekend.

According to operational manager Mac van Zyl, the first robbery took place on Market Street, Middelvlei, on October 24. At about 21:00, three armed robbers attacked a man as he was entering his home.

Van Zyl said the robbers forced the man and his family to lie on the ground before taking a TV and cellphones. The suspects then fled on foot.

The second robbery occurred on October 25 in Kocksoord. Van Zyl said the victims had been sitting and listening to music when one of them went outside to look for their cat. At that moment, one of the three robbers pounced.

During the struggle, the robbers fired several shots, injuring one of the victims in the foot. Van Zyl said the robbers took cellphones before fleeing the scene. The injured victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The police are currently investigating both cases,” he said.
