6m of stolen cable leads to blackouts in R’fontein

The Rand West City Local Municipality issued the following statement about cable theft that occurred on Friday night, March 1.

“Please note that a group of syndicates stole about 6m of the main feeder cable between the Westergloor Substation and the Toekomsrus Switching Station, located behind the Sasol service station.”

Several streets are impacted.

They added they are currently making efforts to find an 8m piece of cable to replace the stolen one.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are doing everything possible to resolve the issue as quickly as we can,” the statement concluded.
