Wheatlands spillage caused by failed submersible pump

The municipality said they are working hard to address the sewage spill posing a threat in Wheatlands.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has given feedback regarding the ongoing sewage spill in Wheatlands.

Recently, resident Carel van Tonder expressed his concern about a sewage-filled hole across from the Dan Tloome Mega Project residence, arguing that urgent intervention is needed as it poses a threat to a nearby dam, animal life and even borehole water.

According to a statement issued by RWCLM, the sewage spill was caused by a failed submersible pump at Dan Tloome. They further mentioned the municipality is procuring a new flight submersible pump to address the issue.

“We understand the urgency of replacing the failed pump and are working to resolve the matter. Further updates will be provided as progress is made,” municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa said.

Ward councillor Alwyn van Tonder added that he trusts the municipality understands the urgency at hand.

“I trust they will address the matter as per the official notice as soon as possible,” he concluded.
