Resident shares his struggles with RDP housing
Despite having been approved for RDP housing in Wheatlands, a Kagiso resident still lives in a makeshift dwelling.
A 59-year-old resident from Kagiso still lives in an informal dwelling even though he has been approved for RDP housing in 2024.
Charlie Mosese explained he applied for housing in 1997 but it has been an up-and-down battle since. He further noted a few residents planned a strike in 2024 but they were stopped by political figures saying they would receive houses.
In April 2024, he was finally approved for housing at the Dan Tloome Mega Project in Wheatlands, however, he noted despite having gone back to Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) to enquire, he is still living in an informal dwelling with his four children.
Mosese expressed his dismay at seeing residents from other areas receiving their houses but he does not.
“I want to know why I am not getting my house. I need my house,” said Mosese, who added his wife divorced him because of it.
MCLM was approached for comment, however, none was received at the time of print. As soon as comment is given, it will be published.
