Local teen a finalist for Miss Regal and Teen pageant

A teenager from Randfontein who only started her modelling journey last year is a finalist in the Miss Regal and Teen pageant.

The 15-year-old Chininke Homan said to have been chosen as a finalist has been one of the most amazing experiences of her life.

“I feel honoured and wish to grow even more on my modelling journey.”

She explained that during her time as a finalist she has do to a charity run for the Vee Van Heerden foundation and Stand United, and promote all the pageant sponsors.

I haven’t been involved in any charities as I only started my modelling career last year, but through my agency, Oxygen Models, we are part of CANSA Interim Home.”

In the past year she’d learned that modelling is not only about a pretty face or the crown, but what you can do for the community and be the best ambassador for your various charities.

Chininke said she started modelling to boost her self-esteem but when she realised how much she enjoyed it she decided to make it her career.

There wasn’t any one reason for entering this pageant; it was mainly about improving my self-confidence and to get more experience as this is my first pageant ever. What drives me is the knowledge that if you believe it you can achieve it.”

She said she gets her inspiration from all the different kinds of opportunities available for young girls. Her dream is to become a world-renowned model and actress.

Chininke is motivated by the idea that a small town farm girl from South Africa, Charlize Theron, could become such a big name in the industry.

“If I win I would use my title and time to be a role model for girls. I would like to do some sort of drive against bullying as I also struggle with low self-esteem as I was bullied before and know what negative impact that can have on you.”
