Preparing the community for excellence

'We do not receive financial assistance; we have to rely on ourselves and it pains us to see our children having to share things like computers, stationery and tables' – founder.

A local NGO is changing lives with their after-school programmes.

Shine For Hope Developers is an NGO that was founded by Sesi Twala. She said their after-school programmes are aimed at preparing children, students and adults for excellence.

The services they offer are tutoring; matric rewrite or upgrade; career guidance and mentoring; assistance with the Adult Basic Education and Training programme; applications for bursaries and scholarships; university enrolment; and assisting primary and high school learners, and university and college students with homework, research, projects and assignments.

In an effort to increase its impact the centre assists the less fortunate by occasionally donating food and clothes, and assisting youngsters in pursuing their dreams and participating in activities such as sports, modelling, spelling bees and public-speaking competitions,” said Twala.

She added that the centre has not only impacted the young minds but has contributed towards reducing unemployment by employing six experienced and qualified people.
