NPO offers helping hand to destitute family

A local NPO has stepped in to assist a destitute family, a father and son, living in poor conditions at the Ko Sporong informal settlement in Finsbury.

Mandla Hamnca, founder of the non-profit organisation (NPO) Proud Fathers is continuing with his efforts of offering a helping hand in his community.

Currently, Mandla is building appropriate shelter for a destitute family consisting of a father and son living at the Ko Sporong informal settlement in Finsbury.

“We received information a while ago about a father who is living with his child in poor living conditions in Ko Sporong. It is a very difficult position to be in as a father living with a child in such a state and we felt we needed to step in and do the best that we could to assist this family. We are busy building a proper shelter. We will also provide them with a new bed and all the necessities.

“We feel that no one should be denied dignity, support, access to cleanliness because they lack stable housing. Our aim has always been to restore the dignity of those in need and we work on that each and every day,” said Mandla.

He is now appealing to local residents who might have items they do not use to donate them to the family which will go a long way in assisting them.

He further thanked those who constantly help the organisation in its projects.

To offer a helping hand, Mandla can be contacted on 073 905 0404.
