AVBOB fills the hunger gap for needy Avantè learners
Needy learners and their families benefitted from a kind donation made by AVBOB funeral home in Randfontein.
Less fortunate learners from Avantè Primary School will have some sense of relief during the school holidays after they received non-perishable items for themselves and their families.
The learners who received the items rely on the school’s feeding scheme.

According to the school’s deputy principal, Martha Tabane, the non-perishable items were donated by AVBOB funeral home in Randfontein.
“We initially did a non-perishable items food drive where we collected the first batch of items for our needy learners during our anti-bullying week. These learners are from surrounding areas such as Montrose, Peace Haven, and Dan Tlhome and unfortunately, when the food parcels were being distributed, 15 learners could not receive them because we ran out.

“We did, however, send out an appeal on WhatsApp groups and were fortunate to have AVBOB in Randfontein come to our rescue. They provided food parcels for the learners who were left out and ensured that they at least have something to eat during the school holidays as well when the school’s feeding scheme is non-operational,” Martha said, who added that AVBOB has promised to assist the school going forward.

AVBOB representative at the Randfontein branch, Brendan Brits added they were happy to offer a helping hand.

“When we heard that the school had a need, we took the initiative to assist where we can. We are glad that we could be of assistance to the school and the learners,” Brendan concluded.
