SPCA’s pooches get some grooming and smooches

Divine Pooches started an initiative to assist the SPCA with their animals.

The RandWest SPCA’s animals received a bit of a pampering.

Recently, Divine Pooches decided to assist the SPCA with grooming the animals in need. About eight dogs had the opportunity to receive a bath, shaving and a lot of love.

This is according to the manager of the RandWest SPCA branch, René van Straten who said Divine Pooches started the initiative a while ago. Divine Pooches also offers free vouchers for the animals who are up for adoption.

“We never need to pay for the services they provide for the animals. It is always great fun when Divine Pooches visit us. It’s also relaxing for our staff to take a bit of a break from the hard work and harsh reality. Everyone enjoyed the groom day,” René stated.

Divine Pooches offered free baths for the SPCA animals.

According to the owner of Divine Pooches, Deon Lombard, the business started the initiative in 2021.

“We have always had a good relationship with the RandWest SPCA’s staff and management. We assist them when they need it. Many times the SPCA receives dogs who are in a terrible state due to being abandoned. These dogs desperately need some tender loving care. That is when we gladly assist,” Deon stated.

Deon emphasised it is of great importance that they make sure their staff members have the same amount of love for the animals. According to him, the first step of any business is to love what you do.

“We most certainly do and these types of initiatives make it worthwhile. There is nothing better than a clean and happy dog with a wagging tail. We wish that more individuals would assist the SPCA. They are truly doing a great job with the little they have.

“Divine Pooches also started an initiative with the RandWest SPCA that with every adoption, we give a free grooming session for the adopted pet at their new home,” Deon concluded.
