Gospel Music Festival yields a great turnout and hopes for many more

Randfontein Rugby Club brings the community together with a Gospel Festival.

Randfontein Rugby Club hosted their third Gospel Music Festival on October 6.

Pieter Classen, organiser of the festival, explained the inspiration behind it was to make people aware of Jesus again and win souls for His kingdom.

“It was definitely ‘n big success with the positive feedback from the community as well as the performers and the churches involved,” said Pieter.

Shirley Louw, Brendon and Chrizaan Grové, Zendra Hattingh, Estelle Cilliers and Braam Kramer along with Dudley Mans and team all entertained the guests with their musical talents.

He added the aim was not only to get the community involved but also to join hands with various churches. They also wanted to allow upcoming gospel singers to showcase their talents. This is also why gospel festivals are important in communities, along with getting to know one another and showing support for one another.

This was the third year they hosted the festival but it was the first year they took hands with different churches.

“We would like to make a difference in the community of Randfontein as well as the West Rand and that is one of the big reasons we host the festival. Life is so rushed, people don’t get a chance to just sit still for a moment.”

He noted each year the festival gets better than the one before and they hope to have more in the future.

Aside from the rugby club, the other sponsors involved were churches from West Krugersdorp including Die Volle Evangelie Kerk van God, AGS Krugersdorp-Wes, Pinkster Kerk van God, Members in Christ Church Krugersdorp and AGS Randgate, to name a few.

“Thank you for the beautiful turnout and everyone involved. We aim to go even bigger next year. All glory to the Lord,” said Pieter.
