Helping The Next Addict (HTNA) NPO recently hosted an outreach and feeding project in Toekomsrus to help those who are struggling with addiction.
Executive member and secretary Gary Paulse stated the reason for the outreach was to help those struggling with substance abuse.
The event was also meant to spread a message of hope and to let addicts know that there is help available.
“The day aimed to get all the addicts from our community together and give them a message of hope while helping those who want help [by getting them into rehab]. We also gave them something to eat because sometimes they do not have something to eat,” Gary said.
He further mentioned the highlight of the day was not only the addicts who attended the event but the family members who joined them. The outreach ended successfully and Gary explained that the number of addicts who gathered to listen to testimonies was tremendous.
“We will be doing more outreaches. We are planning on doing at least one outreach and feeding project every month. We will also be visiting more schools next year as well as going to different prisons. We want to work harder next year to make a difference in our community,” he concluded.
