WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Help Bonzo the severely injured Jack Russell

Bonzo the severely injured Jack Russell's leg had to be amputated and an animal organisation is asking the community to help with medical costs.

Bonzo (9) the Jack Russell was attacked by a dog and since his owner could not afford medical treatment, his wounds have become more severe.

According to the founder of Animal Aid Warriors, Naomi de Beer, Bonzo dug a hole underneath a fence separating the property from the owner’s neighbours. After he succeeded in digging the hole, he made his way onto the neighbours property where he was consequently bitten by the neighbour’s dog.

Animal Aid Warriors has since intervened and decided to help Bonzo with his medical treatment after the owner reached out to her.

Naomi took Bonzo to Medi Ark Animal Hospital where veterinarian Wolf Staude gave Bonzo much-needed treatment.

On January 29, Bonzo underwent surgery to amputate his leg.

Naomi estimated the cost of Bonzo’s treatment to be around R4 000.

“In such circumstances, it is best to get medical insurance for your animals. However, if that is not possible and you need help, don’t give up. Keep asking for help because there is always someone willing to help,” she expressed.

If anyone is willing to donate, payments can be made directly to Medi Ark Animal Hospital.
