Charity shop serves kindness and food

Monica and Craige Lancellas are spreading warmth and compassion this winter by opening their hearts and home to those in need, offering free meals to help ease hunger in their community.

Multi Charity Randfontein will be hosting their Winter Love Soup Project to help keep the needy warm with a hot bowl of food during the harsh winter season.

Owners of the charity shop, Monica and Craige Lancellas, will be opening their doors to feed the less fortunate during June and July. They will be offering soup and coffee every Tuesday, and every Thursday, they will give a bowl of rice and fresh vegetables. They will open the kitchen to the underprivileged around 10:00.

“We have been doing this project for three years now because we have come to realise how cold the winter can be.

This year, we want to reach even more underprivileged individuals,” Monica expressed.

Furthermore, Monica explained why she has a soft spot for the needy.

“It is so sad to see these individuals in the cold. I believe that if you help just one person, it is enough. You just have to give with a willing heart,” she said.

She added that the Lord gave her a message to help those in need.

“The honour and praise go to the Lord. We always try to help no matter what the person looks like. If we see a person with a full plate of food, then we are satisfied. It also makes me, as a human being, thankful for the blessings that I have. I thank the Lord every day. To make a difference means the world to us,” she said.

A lot of people have a misconception about the homeless and they are so used to judging. We just want them to feel loved and to never lose hope,” Monica concluded.

They are inviting the less fortunate to grab a plate of food at *42 Union Street, Randgate, every Tuesday and Thursday. For more information, call Monica on 072 813 0192.
