Community prays for a better Randfontein

Prayer Oven’s decade-long community prayer rally brought church leaders together, aiming to transform Randfontein through faith and unity.

Prayer Oven held a community prayer rally recently aimed at inspiring positive change in Randfontein.

“Church leaders came together to pray for certain points in our town, including schools, gang violence, churches and families,” stated chairperson of the organisation, Teodoir van Staden.

He noted the inspiration came from their desire to be more public as Christians, to stand together in faith and trust that God would change circumstances. This is also the 10th year they have been hosting prayer rallies.

Teodoir further noted they also celebrated 10 years of Randfontein On Your Knees in honour of his grandfather, Danie Henning, who started the movement.

“It was a success, because church leaders attended and poured their hearts out at the feet of their King. I would not be surprised if we see dramatic changes in our town because of the rally,” said Teodoir.

Even though only 35 people attended due to the weather, they’ve had up to 200 people attend previous rallies.

He explained it took them three months to organise the event, as they also partnered with Randfontein Time To Rise during their youth bash. He added that there will be another rally in April next year.

Teodoir especially thanked Pastor Nicholas Nkosi and Pastor Thomas Maphosa, who have been with the team since 2015.

“I want to invite and ask all church leaders of all denominations to stand together with us, that we might pray together, work together and serve together. Unity is the only way we can see true change in our town. Let us be united under the hand of our King, Jesus Christ,” he concluded.
