love is in the air and on four paws

Bring your furry Valentine and celebrate love while supporting animal welfare this Saturday!

The RandWest SPCA is inviting animal lovers and their four-legged companions to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little differently this year with a special Valentine’s Day Dog Walk, aimed at promoting animal welfare and community spirit.

The walk will start at 08:00 this Saturday, February 14, at the Randfontein Rugby Club, with an entrance fee of R30.

Families, couples, and individuals looking to spend quality time outdoors while supporting a meaningful cause are welcome to join. Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs, dress in Valentine’s-themed outfits, and enjoy a relaxed walk alongside fellow pet enthusiasts.

According to organisers, the initiative is not only about celebrating the day of love but also raising awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of supporting local animal shelters. Proceeds and donations collected during the event will go toward the care of animals housed at the RandWest SPCA, including food, medical treatment, and shelter maintenance.

The walk will feature light entertainment, opportunities to socialise with other pet owners, and information stands where attendees can learn more about adoption and volunteering. Those without pets are also welcome to attend and show their support.

Community members are encouraged to arrive early, bring water for their pets, and keep their dogs on leashes at all times.
