Residents of the Connie Mulder Centre enjoyed a day filled with laughter, kindness and generosity as volunteers dedicated their time to uplifting persons with disabilities in celebration of Nelson Mandela Day.

Ace Brands made a meaningful contribution by donating food products and baking cupcakes for the residents. Their hands-on involvement brought smiles to many faces as the sweet treats were shared among residents and staff.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was a youth group from Emmanuel Worship Centre in Greenhills, who spent the day interacting with residents. They played games, shared conversations and created memorable moments of joy and connection.

CEO of the centre, Gordon Henney, expressed his gratitude for the support shown.

“Days like these remind us of the power of community and compassion. Our residents truly appreciate the time and effort put in by volunteers. It’s not just about donations, but about making people feel seen, valued and loved,” said Gordon.

Okkie Janse van Vuuren from Ace Brands said the initiative reflected the company’s commitment to giving back.

“Madiba Day is a reminder that we all have a role to play in making a difference. Being here today, baking and spending time with the residents, has been incredibly rewarding for our team,” he said.
