Riebeeckrand redeem themselves against arch rivals

Hoërskool Riebeeckrand redeemed themselves by winning most matches against arch rivals Jan Viljoen on May 21.

Hoërskool Riebeeckrand came out on top against Hoërskool Jan Viljoen in a day of action-packed rugby between old foes in Riebeeck on Saturday May, 21.

With the home side winning three out of four matches against their arch rivals from West Porges, they somewhat managed to redeem themselves this time around after having disappointed, especially the seniors, against a pumped-up Fochville a week prior.

“Our results in a big derby were impressive. It was a spectacular day of rugby,” said Janco Tiedt, sports manager of Riebeeckrand.

Despite it being such a cold day, the derby saw many rugby fanatics rooting for their respective favourite teams. It was great to see many Randfontein families brave the cold and rally behind their team of choice.”

The results were as follows:

• U/14s: Riebeeckrand won 60–0
• U/15s: Riebeeckrand won 54–0
• Second team: Jannas won 21–14
• First team: Riebeeckrand won 22–5
