Teine hosts 2022 AGM

New coaches, a committee and the financial report for 2022 were discussed during Randfontein Rugby Club's annual general meeting held earlier this week.

Randfontein Rugby Club hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the club’s Gert Augustyn Hall on Monday night, November 7.

In attendance were approximately 40 members and the event at 19:00. There was an election of new committee members for 2023 as well as the introduction of the coaches for the same year as well. The 2022 financial report was also discussed.

Speaking at the meeting club chairperson Johan Cronje said this year only proved that the players can take on anyone and that they need to stop doubting themselves.

“It doesn’t matter if you are the smallest and tiniest. You are important and you have a vital job in the team. Our players didn’t stand back when people were talking about our club. We walked out as champions this year and unfortunately, it’s the tallest trees that get the most wind. The devil is done with stories going around and talking badly about the club, we just have to keep asking the Lord for guidance and He will come back with answers.

“We are still staying in the Senior Grand Challenge and our plans are already in place for 2024 to win the Pirates Grand Challenge,” said Cronje who added that he is proud of every player and added that they need to leave the negativity at home and stay positive.

Regarding financials, committee member and treasurer Andre Pretorius said, “It has been a very good year compared to the previous one where Covid-19 played a role in. The report can be viewed in the office.”
