CBD company to pack one millionth meal this month
A Pretoria property company is set to pack its one millionth meal through its decade-long partnership with Rise Against Hunger. The milestone reflects years of employee commitment to fighting hunger and supporting vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity across South Africa.
A Pretoria property company in the CBD is set to reach a major milestone in its decade-long fight against hunger when staff pack the organisation’s one millionth meal through its partnership with Rise Against Hunger in July.
The milestone comes as South Africans commemorated Mandela Day on July 18 and marked the tenth year of City Property’s involvement in the initiative.
Since 2017, employees of the company have gathered year after year to pack meals in support of vulnerable communities and to help fight food insecurity.
Staff have already packed more than 960 000 meals and will officially reach the one million mark during the upcoming event.
According to Lize Nel, the company’s spokesperson, the milestone reflects the organisation’s long-term commitment to addressing hunger through collective action.
“On July 24, we will pack our one millionth meal. This marks our tenth year of compassion, partnership, and purpose. Every meal packed tells a story of people choosing to make a difference and communities coming together to create hope,” said Nel.
Reaching one million meals will provide enough food to supply approximately 4 200 children with five nutritious meals a week for an entire year.
Each Rise Against Hunger meal pack contains rice, soy protein, dehydrated vegetables, and a specially formulated vitamin and mineral mix. Each pack provides six nutritious meals and is designed to support vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity.
Although Mandela Day activities traditionally take place on July 18, the event has been scheduled for the following week to accommodate Rise Against Hunger’s Mandela Day commitments during the official commemorative period.
As part of the celebrations, Rise Against Hunger will officially welcome the property company into the Million Meal Club in recognition of the organisation’s longstanding commitment to helping address hunger.
The occasion will include a special commemorative trophy presentation to mark the company’s achievement.
