Brutal attack on elderly woman

A man attacked an elderly and vulnerable woman in her home on Sunday morning.

A 73-year old woman who lives alone was recently brutally assaulted at her home in Rooihuiskraal.

According to Wierdabrug police spokesperson, Ilze Jones, a man entered the premises around 02:00 on Sunday. He broke the living room’s window to gain access to the house.

The man brutally assaulted the woman, allegedly by stabbing her with a broken bottle. The man stole an iPad, cell phone and the woman’s handbag, the police confirmed.

Jones said the woman was able to phone her son, who then informed the security company. On their arrival, the suspect has already fled from the scene.

According to Braam Kruger, Emer-G-Med spokesperson, the woman broke her fingers and sustained head injuries. As soon as she was stabilised on the scene, she was transported to the nearest hospital by Netcare 911. The woman was allegedly still in the hospital’s ICU by Monday.
