Two men were arrested after crashing into a fence with a hijacked bakkie in Eersterust on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Constable Sam Shibambo said police on patrol noticed a white Nissan bakkie driving at high speed on Selbourne Avenue early on Thursday morning.
“The officers gave chase and the driver lost control and crashed into a residential fence in Renata Avenue.”
Shibambo said the hijackers tried to run away, but the driver and the passenger were caught a few metres from the bakkie.
It turned out the vehicle had been hijacked in Garsfontein.
“The suspects, both in their late 20s, were arrested and charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle. They were transferred to Garsfontein police station where the alleged hijacking took place,” Shibambo said.
